The duo of Gabriela Machowska-Kopietz (piano) and Piotr Kopietz (accordion, bandoneón, accordina) was established in 2007. They started to perform music together during studies at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
The duo performs own arrangements of classical music, French songs (E. Piaf, J. Brel) and Argentinian tango.
The basic values of their concert performances involve the great passion, enthusiasm and competence in respect of playing the instruments obtained in many years of education and practice.
By their performances, the musicians try to demonstrate the mood typical for a given type of music and present a full array of performance abilities of instruments they use. They can make the audience interested so much to put them in the specific mood of Brahms' Hungarian dances or dance mood of Strauss's waltzes. Owing to the characteristic of their instruments, they are particularly engrossed with tango and French songs.
Machowska-Kopietz & Kopietz Duo is not the only musical project in which they are both involved. Together with the guitarist, Mateusz Szemraj, they form the Sentido del Tango trio specialising in "tango nuevo" created by Astor Piazzolla.
